Work Philosophy

Over the years of working and volunteering under several different employers, coaches, and other professionals I have developed a mindset and work ethic that is unique and personal to myself. A supervisor once taught me to observe my surroundings and notice all the little details. In life it is the little details that customers, patients, supervisors, and coworkers notice. By seeing what they are seeing I know how to improve imperfections. In the world on dietetics this is important when working with patients and other health care professionals. Gaining customer and employee satisfaction are important and needed in the industry. Another skill that’s important is responsibility. If I mess up on a project or tell someone wrong information make believe its only right to make the correction. False claims and incorrect information risk professional and field reliability. Lastly, time management and speed are a must. The same supervisor always expected things to be done faster than they could be done. However, as an employee I learned that it was all about working smarter and not harder to get the job done. In most work environments they are fast paced and demanding it is important to get the jog done and do it smoothly and correctly. These concepts really help me to excel in my schoolwork, job, and personal life.

In the past, I have taken 17 to 19 hours of classes every semester at UT and have been able to be successful doing so. The past year I worked 15 to 18 hours during the school week as a server at Ruby Tuesday. As well as volunteering one hour a week for N.E.A.T as a nutrition educator. With all of that I had going on I still made sure I was able to walk my black lab and make time for family and friends. Throughout my time spent at UT I have learned for me it’s better if I have various activities going on, because I am forced to manage my time wisely and make sure I dedicate my time to activities that I love doing and maintain the strong work philosophy I try to live by.
