January 2009 to present
Knoxville Parks and Recreation & Knox County Health Department Instructor
Through the partnership of the Knox County Health Department and Knoxville Parks and Recreation I was assigned to a center and in charge to teaching 15 to 20 children once a week about nutrition and health. This enabled me to get a chance to really interact with the community and help to educate children about nutrition in hopes of improving the obesity epidemic. Through the Nutrition Education Activity Training Program I tried to show and tell children why is it important to try to life a healthy lifestyle by using age appropriate fun activities. The best part of teaching is how excited the kids are when you show up and how interested and willing they are to participate and really love to learn about the body and one's nutritional needs.
